【Notice No.1】Reminder: Taking Self-Preventive Measures Against the Recent COVID-19 Outbreak in Taiwan
2021-04-30
Recently, several new cases of COVID-19 infection in the China Airlines pilot and family living together have been confirmed since 20 April 2021. Due to this special event and the confirmed cases identified in foreign students just after quarantine, the risk of possible COVID-19 transmission in Taiwan is potentially increasing. To secure NCHU campus away from the COVID-19 risk, the Office of International Affairs would like to remind faculty, students, and staff to remain alert and respect the self-preventive measures listed below for personal and social protection. According to the CDC announcement, any personnel who have traveled to the locations associated with the China Airlines COVID-19 incident should follow the guidelines of self-health management, and avoid going to crowded and public spaces, including the campus. Thank you for your cooperation.
1. Health Monitoring:
Measure your body temperature at home on a daily basis. When you have a fever, please seek medical care immediately, and do not go to school.
2. Keeping Hands Sanitized:
Maintaining hand hygiene is the best way for preventing most infectious diseases. Wash hands using sanitizers or soap thoroughly and regularly.
3. Maintaining Social Distancing and Wearing Masks:
Pay attention to good ventilation locations when attending class, and maintain social distancing as much as possible. If social distancing cannot be maintained, wearing masks is mandatory.
4. Large-Scale Activities Prevention:
Social distancing should be maintained and a real-name registration system should be strictly implemented. If social distancing cannot be maintained, wearing masks is mandatory during activities.
5. Campus Disinfection and Well-Ventilation:
1) Maintain proper disinfection of buildings and classrooms regularly.
2) When turning on the AC system or central air conditioning, classroom doors can be closed but windows at each corner of the classroom should be kept open to facilitate ventilation. When there is no air conditioning available, standing fans (or wall fans) should be set up and placed appropriately.
6. Implementation of Physical Education Courses:
Social distancing should be maintained for indoor and outdoor physical exercises. If social distancing cannot be maintained, wearing masks is mandatory.
7. Faculty and Staff Traveling Abroad:
Alternative measures should be taken to restrict unnecessary travel abroad during the COVID-19 pandemic. If travel abroad is necessary, the person needs to seek agreement from the Supervisor/President after careful evaluation.
8. Students and faculty should avoid attending classes/going to work on the campus, and need to seek immediate medical treatment when the following symptoms are shown – fever, cough, shortness of breath, diarrhea, loss of smell and taste, and other COVID-19 related symptoms.
